Summer Mayhem Finished?

By Green Jack Brewery  //  Latest News From The Green Jack Real Ale Brewing Company  //  Comments Off

So has the summer mayhem finished? Well we have now sold the last of our Summer Dream and have been out picking green hops for our next seasonal ale Hop Harvest, so yes, it must be.

We have had a pretty manic summer here, we have been really busy brewing, selling and also getting our smaller plant up and running.

The smaller plant is now brewing which makes life easier for us and also allows Tim to do some experimenting with new brew and one offs.

The 1st brew to come out was our Lurcher Stout and 2nd back by popular demand was our Canary Pale Ale at 3.8% that has been greatly appreciated by the pubs around Norwich (wonder why). Sitting in there at the moment is our Baltic Trader 10.5% Imperial Stout.

Tim has designed a new brew using some fantastic new Australian Hops ‘Australlian Summer’ 3.8% Will be available November.

Tim was out yesterday picking fresh hops to be used in our next seasonal ale ‘Hop Harvest’ So they are about to get put into the copper and our Hop Harvest will be ready next week.

Our ‘Hop Harvest’ is a A bright Wheaten Ale brewed with “green” wheat straight from the combine harvester of a local farm and “green” freshly picked hops from a Suffolk Hop Yard! Available late September / early October till the end of November.

We have our Mahseer IPA ready for the Nicolsons IPA Festival, that will go out next Monday.

Tuesday was the trade day at the GBBF and the new champion beer of Britain was announced Congratulations to Might Oak Mild ‘ Oscar Wilde’ in winning but really… another Mild, Im sure the people judging these beer only drink mild and its the same people every year putting names of Mild in a hat and pulling them out.

We had a visit from the guys from Charlies Bar in Copenhagen yesterday, interest in some of our ale heading there way.

And today take down beer festival at the Caxton club in Beccles and dragged mother to helo with the bottling

So we all get used to the wonderful British summer we have been having and then – Rain! Well it wouldnt be a British summer without rain also with the Lattitude Festival starting today it had to rain lets just hope it clears for the weekend.

So what been happening here this week amongst the brewing vessels and telephones in the brewhouse? Well, a busy week with many pub orders, finalizing deliveries for Lattitude, getting the crew together to move the beer around the site over the course of the weekend and most importantly testing the Hektors Pure 3.8% abv & Hektors Scarecrow 5.0% abv to make sure its all ok.

Pleanty of cask washing and racking this week, Orange Wheat, Summer Dream and Friday is the return of the Mahseer I.P.A 5.0% Brewing of this beer has been held back as the small brewing plant is in the process of being fitted in the main brewhouse still but we decided to do a large brew of Mahseer and get this bottled aswell as in the casks.

New Hops have been ordered some great looking Aussie Hops that have never been in the u.k. before so watch this space, once the little brewery is up and running i’m sure we can see some great small brews of Artisan ales designed by Tim.

Green Jack Brewing Co T-shirts are now available on our Green Jack T-shirtsonline store

Progress on our next line of products is moving forward, test recipes of our sauces and marinades are being made as we speak and will be available soon via our online shop
