Archant Media Award

Green Jack HQ received an unexpected, yet very pleasing phone call today from the UK’s largest independently owned newspaper group, Archant Media.

The call was to inform us that our already embarrassingly full award cabinet would need another shelf as Orange Wheat had just scooped 2 prizes, including the overall supreme Real Ale at the annual EDP & Evening News Sponsored traditional Ale and Food evening.

On Saturday, around 400 people attended an old English traditional style evening at the historic Masonic Rooms in Norwich city centre for an event which involved the guests dining on long wooden tables just like an October-fest style beer festival.

Hundreds of guests enjoyed a traditionally prepared luxury three course meal, which guests described as “simply lovely” and the masonic halls dining room as “very atmospheric”.

A number of the regions best traditional real ale producers entered their ales and guests had to decide which ale was best suited to the meals set starters, mains and deserts.

Green Jack’s 4.2% ABV Orange wheat Beer was voted the best ale to enjoy with the evenings starter, a delicious organic and locally sourced carrot & Ginger soup. It was thought that Orange Wheat’s light, grainy citrus & marmalade flavours complemented the taste and aromas one of England’s finest soup recipes.

Green Jack’s Orange Wheat Beer then went on to win the overall supreme ale award, with nearly 60% of the events attendees beleiveing that our delightfully drinkable Wheat Beer was the best overall ale.

Daron Fowle, Green Jack’s Long Standing and Evanescent Brewer said “We are all obviously very pleased that Orange wheat scooped the overall Supreme Real Ale Award in this Prestigious event”. He went on to say, “On A personal level, i also feel very satisfied that all the hours of meticulous hard work i spent hand-selecting and peeling the most juicy oranges for our brews, has paid off once again.

“I certainly intend to speak with Mr Dunford about a possible pay-rise in my next appraisal as the amount of awards our ales are winning is simply ridiculous!”

This latest award for the Orange Wheat Beer can now be added to the previous 10 awards it has to its name.
